Age of Conan

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is the fist installment of the Age of Conan series. It’s a massive multi-player online role playing game that takes plays in a virtual, 3d, fantasy world. The game takes the players to the Hyborian Kingdoms, and the timeline takes place a year after the fantasy Conan novel, “The Hour of the Dragon”. The Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures was released on during the 76th anniversary celebration of the Conan franchise.

The PC version of the game was fully released in North America on May 20, 2008, and in Europe three days later. It was one of the most highly anticipated games of all time.

Here are just some of the reasons why:

• Many MMORPG fans believe Age of Conan to be one of, if not THE most “graphically advanced games” currently out there. Its graphics truly are amazing.

• Age of Conan offers a new, unique way of fighting. Instead of the traditional “click on your target” strategy that other games use, players now have a combination of choices. Skill techniques differ from other MMORPG’s as well. Some players who are used to traditional MMORPG combat strategies aren’t happy with this, though, claiming that they’ll need to “grow two more fingers” in order to use it more easily.

• Age of Conan has older, more mature gamers in mind, as some of the graphics are a bit “too much” for children’s eyes.

• The Hyborian Kingdoms are vast, and there are more than thirty regions for players to explore. Any type of scenery imaginable: vast, gleaming cities; deep, wild jungles; bright deserts; mountain ranges; dark, dreary dungeons; etc.. can be found throughout the game.

• Because of the many different areas for players to explore, they never have to worry about getting bored.

• There are many types of combat in Age of Conan as well. Players can even fight while being on their mounts!

These are just some of the many reasons why Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventure is such a popular game. Despite the players who aren’t happy with the unusual combat techniques, the game has a huge fan base in both North America and Europe. There is a lot of Age of Conan information online for players, including tips, resource guides, and tutorials. Hyborian Adventure is only the first in a planned series, so fans are looking forward to future installments as well.
