Matrix Online

The Matrix Online, aka MxO, is one of the most popular massively multiplayer online (MMORPG) games which is an official sequel and continuation of The Matrix films and storyline. Prior to being released in the United States and Europe in the spring of 2005, it was played by beta-testers as well as those who pre-ordered copies of it.

Players of MxO play from the point of view of Redpill, a human who has become freed from the Matrix. The physical appearance of “Redpill” is up to each player, and options including gender, body type, head type, hair style and color, skin color, etc., are available. The player can choose whether he or she wishes to create Redpill in his or her own image, or to create an alter ego. Either way, character design and creation is one of the most important factors for players of all MMORPG games, including Matrix Online.

Here are some features that make Matrix Online a great game:

• In addition to designing a character’s physical features, a player can also customize his or her character with clothing and accessories, giving the character a unique style.

• Throughout the game while exploring and doing missions, players can find new clothing items, rare clothing items, weapons, accessories, etc. that they can either choose to equip or sell.

• Players can even choose the personality type for their characters by making them hackers, spies, soldiers, etc. They can also mix and match throughout the game.

• Fans of the movies will be happy that characters such as Morpheus and Niobe sometimes make appearances in the game during gameplay.

• As Redpill levels up, players can achieve new abilities by “loading up” Disciplines. Matrix Online stands out from other MMORPG’s by allowing players to switch out all of their “loaded” abilities and skills at once, instead of having to do it all one at a time.

The Matrix Online, as with most MMORPG’s, gives missions to players, in which they are rewarded upon successful completion. Players can level up and gain more experience points and abilities as they successfully complete quests, battle enemies, crafting, etc... Players can also team up with one another to complete harder missions more easily.

Another good thing about Matrix Online is that players don’t have to worry about other players coming around to “steal their kills”. The game gives out the right amount of XP for each player involved. If one player does most of the damage against the enemy, that player will receive most of the XP, if a player only gets one measly hit in, then he or she will only receive a few measly XP points.

Over all, the Matrix Online is a great Sci-Fi game for everyone, even people who aren’t familiar with the films will have fun with it.
